Typing Is Still Useful Today
Lets face it, the world is changing. Gadgets proliferate as technology only becomes better, and computers have worked their way into nearly everyones life. That means that learning to use computers becomes important to every individual. In the old days, learning to type was restricted to women in office occupations, like data entry clerks, or writers. Today, nearly all of us find ourselves at some point, facing a keyboard.
Not a few individuals dont have any typing skills at all. Sure, banging out correspondence using two fingers works, but to be effective in the workplace, this kind of typing doesnt really do the job any longer. Not only that, many find the increasing need to type at home, whether searching for useful info online or writing email to family and friends. And, remember, telephones are losing favor over computers as well.
All this burgeoning technology leaves people in the dark if they dont have typing skills. Without it, communication and learning are limited. From the looks of things, computers arent going away, and keyboards are going to remain a major component in modern communication methods.
Adults are hit hard by a lack of typing skills. As things progress, the opportunities to work lessen, unless you have a skill or some profession that requires no text-based communication at all. You probably could get along for a while using pen, paper, and phones, but not being comfortable with typed-text smacks of a handicap in professionalism and education. Outsourcing the job to those who can type probably isnt cost-effective either.
Besides that, your children are facing a world steeped in digital technology as much as you. Soon, learning typing skills is going to be required probably just after they learn to recognize letters and write by hand. By high school, most kids today are almost solely communicating online, and instant messaging programs are the way they interact. If they cant type, they may end up becoming alienated from the social mainstream. And, as we all know, socializing is important for teens and peer groups can make or break a young adult today.
The reasons mentioned here why typing skills are important are clear. The need is there to be able to cope with a technological environment where interaction requires them. We see how they open opportunities for careers and income-earning potential, and are the modern crux of socialization today. These reasons alone should be sufficient motives to take action.
To identify right where your typing skills are now and how much you may need to improve to be a part of this changing world, take a typing test today.
